Return to Questions

How much time do I have to report that my Bank Card is missing?
Your card should be reported lost/stolen as soon as you notice the card not in your possession.

Return to Questions

Am I responsible for withdrawals and/or purchases that 'I DIDN'T MAKE'?

  • STAR (ATM) Card: Providing you notify the bank within two days of discovering the loss of the card, you cannot lose more than $50.00. If the bank is not notified within two business days, and can prove the loss could have been prevented, the loss could be as great as $500.00.
  • Common Sense (Debit) Card: There is no liability for any unauthorized transactions regardless of when the bank is notified. However; if the bank can prove you, the customer, committed fraud... the losses may be unlimited.

Return to Questions

Why isn't my PIN / Card working?
Various reasons may cause these results. The two most prevalent reasons are: a) the card was deactivated due to accidental, invalid PIN use... b) the magnetic strip on the back of the card is damaged or unreadable. Please visit one of our branches and speak to a Customer Service Representative for assistance.

Return to Questions

What do I do if I've forgotten my PIN? (or) How do I change my PIN if I think someone else knows it?
These occurrences should be dealt with in person. Please visit one of our branches and speak to a Customer Service Representative. It is very important that you have your STAR / Common Sense Card and Photo ID available to enable our representative to assist you.

Return to Questions

I left my Bank Card in an ATM and the Bank is closed... What should I do?
At the start of the following business day, it is imperative that you contact the Farmers' branch (or other location) which houses the ATM. A Bank Representative will determine if your Bank Card is available for your retrieval.

Return to Questions

Why did Farmers (a Farmers' affiliate) call me regarding my 'Card Activity'?
This call is coming from our Fraud Risk Area. For your security, the primary goal of this area is to monitor the activity on all Common Sense (Debit) Cards. If a transaction does not appear to coincide with the 'normal activity' for a cardholder, a phone call is placed to verify that the purchase is valid. If you have any further questions, please contact Farmers' Electronic Banking Dept.

Verified by Visa is a program, which is available to cardholders while making purchases on the Internet. The sole goal of this program is to provide added security against Identity Theft / Fraud. After cardholders enroll, participating Online Merchants give the option to couple the online shopper's card number with a unique password. Following the purchase, the program produces a confidential phrase on the purchase receipt -- one which had been created by the online shopper during the Verified by Visa enrollment process. At many participating Online Merchant sites, use of the program is not mandatory; however, it is strongly suggested that you make use of it when available.
