FARMERS NATIONAL BANC CORP. REPORTS EARNINGS FOR SECOND QUARTER 2002
CANFIELD, Ohio - Farmers National Banc Corp, (OTC BB: FMNB), the parent holding company of
Farmers National Bank, today reported its 2002-second quarter and year-to-date results.
In the quarter ended June 30, 2002, the corporation reported net income of $1.8 million or $0.15 per
share. This compares to the second quarter 2001 net income of $1.9 million or $0.16 per share.
For the first six months of 2002, the corporation earned $3.4 million or $.28 per share as compared to
$3.6 million or $.30 per share for the same six-month period in 2001. The return on average equity was
9.87% and return on average assets was 1.07%.
Earnings for 2002 were slightly lower than a year
ago due primarily to an increase in some non-interest operating expenses and the narrowing of margins.
While the non-interest expenses have increased over last year due to in part to our growth, the net
interest income has also increased, helping to offset the higher operating expenses during the first
six months of 2002.
Farmers National Banc Corp.Ēs total assets are now reported to be $698.2 million, an increase of 10.7%
over the previous twelve months. Loans at June 30, 2002 were $449.2 million, increasing from the
$441.4 million reported in June 2001. Deposits were up 9.7% from the prior year, ending the second
quarter of 2002 at $535.7 million. Shareholders Equity was $76.8 million on June 30, 2002, up 3.6%
from the $74.1 million reported in June 2001.
